Le Clan Pompeux!

TheeBlog-DiegoGuevara_Prints

First of all, I want to thank you all for the great response, great comments and wonderful emails I’ve received. It only pushes me to work harder, improve and learn new things! Since my last identity project for Locos Por Juana (post here) , I noticed many of you, like me, enjoy seeing the whole process and work behind a finished project. So, today I want to share one of my latest adventures. Although this was a personal project/experiment at first, it has evolved into something bigger that I will soon share with you. Hope you enjoy it!

As I have mentioned before, documenting my step-by-step process when working on projects not only gives me a new and improved perspective on my work, but it has turned into a fun compliment to something I already love doing PLUS, thanks to this blog, it has become a window into that sometimes extenuating, definitely sleepless but wonderful world us designers live in – or tend to create when working ;)

These ‘portraits’ are part of a collection I have been working on for quite some time already. Not only I wanted to create unique pieces but I also wanted to experiment with new mediums that would allow me to compliment the style of work I had in mind. I researched numerous Civil War, Revolution and History books and sites looking for that perfect fit, or that one element that would make everything click. (In case you didn’t know, I am a sucker for anything vintage). Everything feel into place thanks to some irony, a small dose of dark humor, and a fair share of retouchin’. Yet I was still missing that final piece to my self-created puzzle, the medium that in my opinion would make these POP! Yes I said pop ;)

And then, I was presented with the opportunity to finally produce these pieces in a small limited quantity. I took part on an international art exchange with amazing über talented designers, artists and friends. Still wanting to make them my own and based on the concept I had in mind, I chose to produce them on 9″x12″ wood boards. After some research, lots of testing and a few days and nights worth of work, I produced the first four pieces from the series! I got so into this project that I moved onto shirts and wood & canvas prints. If you like them, feel free to contact me, an online store is coming soon.
