So Fresh & So Clean

TheeBlog-TrueCleanTowel3
How many times have you thought of a product or had an idea that you knew could make you a millionaire only to find out it has been done… seven or eight times. We all know that feeling, and we all have yelled ‘They stole my idea!!!” at the TV while watching an infomercial. Yet, there are still visionaries out there who don’t let a few late night infomercials stop them. This is the case of Adam Ross, a New York based designer and creator of The True Clean Towel

iPad Light Painting

Great initiative by Dentsu London!
This film explores playful uses for the increasingly ubiquitous ‘glowing rectangles’ that inhabit the world. We use photographic and animation techniques that were developed to draw moving 3-dimensional typography and objects with an iPad. In dark environments, we play movies on the surface of the iPad that extrude 3-d light forms as they move through the exposure. Multiple exposures with slightly different movies make up the stop-frame animation.

ANIMIAMI 2010 – Kick Off Party!

ANIMIAMI_Invite.indd
As artists, we are constantly involved with the world that surrounds us, our community, and everything & anything that we can relate to, or that can benefit our present and future. I had the great pleasure of meeting Mauricio Ferrazza over Mexican food recently, creator and CEO of ANIMIAMI 2010 and share his ideas and purpose behind this International Conference taking place in Miami (October 16th). The event combines students, yeah call me cheesy, but they ARE the future, arts and my hometown! I loved the idea so much that I had to be part of it, and thanks to Mauricio and my great buddy Alfredo, I ended up creating artwork and being part of a great team of people working together to make this event a success and the first of many, many more to come!

Tapetastic by iri5

TheeBlog-ErikaIrisSimmons
Friday again y’all! I love non-traditional media artists and the way they can express themselves and create beautiful art with materials most of us disregard as useless or garbage. Iris Simmons aka iri5 is one of these talented artists whose amazing work, specially with old cassettes, is definitely worth checking. I was greatly surprised this morning when I watched Bruno Mars’ music video for his latest single featuring this style of art+animation. Don’t know yet if iri5 worked on this video , but she has been mentioned as inspiration. Whether you are a fan of the video/song or not, I think I rather watch some interesting work by talented artists than some ‘plump’ video hoes and Escalades ;) Oh! and not to mention that the video features the awesome Nathalie Kelley!!! Thanks Bruno….

TYPEFACE.

TheeBlog-TypefaceFilm
We live very busy lives. I admit it, if I am not texting, emailing, working, on meetings or blogging, I am explaining my wife why ‘this last call’ is so important. The same thing happens with design, we are so involved and anxious to move forward and work on the next big thing that we tend to forget many principles or why today, we do what we do. This film I am sharing today is proof of this, and how important it is to simply slow down every now and then. Check the film, donate if you can, or simply purchase some great prints. Oh! and special thanks to my buddy Chad for the email!

Kult House

TheeBlog-KultHouse
I’ve had the fortune of meeting some amazingly talented designers thanks to collaborations, friends and the power of the interweb. Today, I’m glad to share with you the work of the talented NY based Josh Rhode. His work and portfolio are beautifully executed and inspiring, and I am sure we’ll see more great things in the future coming from this young gentleman. (Hey! I just turned 30, so I am allowed to use the word ‘young’)
