The Fighter

TheeBlog-TheFighter
There are a few movies scheduled to be released next month, but there’s one that for some reason has caught my attention and interest. The Fighter is a true story about two boxing brothers, Mark Wahlberg and a freakishly thin (again) Christian Bale and their chance to become World Champion despite all the negative crap that surrounds them. Check out the trailer…

Facebook Headquarters

TheeBlog-FacebookOffice
Whether you work in the creative field or not, a cool, fun and comfortable ‘office’ is always crucial for motivation and employee satisfaction. Believe you me, I have experienced it. From the old, boring, tacky, cubicle limbo, to swanky, modern, designed or ocean-view penthouses ( I miss those days) and yes, it does make a difference in your everyday attitude! I know, it sounds fundamental and you will agree with me… but the sad true is, most offices usually look like Initech from Office Space!

NFL + NIKE

TheeBlog-NFL_Nike
The NFL announced recently that after 10 years as an official NFL outfitter, and some horrible uniforms, Reebok will be replaced by NIKE starting in 2012. Now, you may ask, was this change in partners necessary? I believe so. The old uniforms felt old, generic and simply boring. As the NFL tries to reinvent its image, this could be a smart alliance that I’m sure not only will bring the NFL back to the ‘future’, but will make some serious money as well. I mean think about it, whether you are a NIKE fan or not, you can’t deny they know how to market products and they love to spend money on advertising ;).

Beautiful Illustrations by Sam Green

TheeBlog-SamGreen0
I’ve been reading books and listening to a few design podcasts lately and I’ve noticed most designers, if not all, tend to emphasize the importance of drawing as part of a structured design process. Drawing has been a passion of mine since I was a kid and I still smile when I see beautiful work… like Sam Green’s illustrations! Sam is a London based illustrator, earned his Masters from Central St Martins College and his admirable combination of talent, technique and attention to detail has earned him an impressive list of clients including ESPN, Wallpaper Magazine, Red Bull, Nokia and more… Check out his lovely work after the jump!

How to Have an Idea – Frank Chimero

TheeBlog-HowtohaveanIdea0
Is there a formula for successful ideas or creativity? Hmmm I am 99% sure not, but there are definitely ways to improve your thinking, process and yes, creativity. Now, I understand every one of us has a different method of approaching and solving problems, but if we all write down our secret ‘methods’ and place them on a table to compare them to other designers’ or creatives’, we might find that we all have a lot in common and the ‘process’ sometimes it’s the same. Inspired by Jessica Hische’s gorgeous “Inspiration VS Immitation” Frank Chimero, Portland based graphic designer, illustrator, teacher, writer, & creative person recently illustrated his process and called it ‘How to Have an Idea’.
