Fatimah Kabba, a NY based designer and recent graduate from the School of Visual Arts launched a KickStarter campaign to bring the cut-throat business of ‘pitching’ to our homes through a new board game called The Pitch: The Game of Graphic Design. Oil’d
Although this video has been out for some time now and some of you have probably seen it already, I was going through my bookmarks and realized I never posted it, so here it is! Not only it is a very informative and socially interesting subject, but it is beautifully done and designed by Chris Harmon. There are many info-videos like this one out there, but I fell in love with its colors, design and animation since I first saw it. Check it out and enjoy!

Portraits by David Despau
There are many ways to illustrate portraits and David Despau definitely knows how to add some dramatic touches and make them theirn own. David Despau is a Creative Director at Orbital BBDO in Spain and I was surprised to see no illustration credits or info considering he has an amazing collection of portraits and illustrations. MAX100: The Book Project
Personal projects should be a goal all of us, whether Designers, Photographers or Illustrators should attempt to achieve at least once during our career. Not only are they a great creative outlet and source of inspiration, but a perfect self-promotion vehicle as well. And today I want to share a fun and interesting KickStarter project by North Carolina based Matt Stevens, who many of you might know from his amazing work for Dunkin’ Donuts. Matt’s goal is to raise enough money to publish a book about ‘…the greatest sneaker of all time’. Check out some photos, story behind the project and links to support his project, as well as a SWEET promo video done by my good friend Adam Boozer / Jewell&Ginnie after the jump!

A Love Letter to Script Letters
While moving to a new house recently, and noticing the number of boxes labeled books outnumbered any other boxed category-by far, I realized I might have a ‘problem’. Don’t get me wrong, it is not a bad thing – I think, in fact I believe it is a must for any designer to own a small collection of books, whether it is because of cover design, content, reference, history or simply inspiration. And this book I want to share today might cover all those descriptions and more! Steven Heller and Louise Fili released a new book featuring beautiful lettering from Design’s Golden Age. Check it, love it and get it!

Celebrities by Randall Slavin
Many Hollywood celebrities like to partner up with brands, magazines or Photographers to create beautiful editorial, fashion or personal photo sessions. Randall Slavin is one of these few talented and creative Photographers celebrities like Eva Longoria or Charlize Theron like to work with. And after checking his portfolio, it is easy to understand why. His creative use of light and color, combined with the ability to create short stories and add personality and ‘that special something’ to each photo set him apart and define his style.

The amazing worlds of Dylan Cole
Recently, while visiting the world of Harry Potter at Islands Of Adventure, I noticed how amazingly realistic and detailed the decoration is, and how accurate in comparison to the stunning movie sets these attractions really are. There’s something magical about those incredible sets, landscapes and entire cities we see in movies. Yes, by now we all know they are computer generated, but what is the process behind ‘Computer generated’? Who comes up with these landscapes and crazy architecture? Dylan Cole does! Dylan is a digital/matte painter and concept artist whose work has been featured on movies like Avatar, Alice in Wonderland, Tron, and many more. Check out these stunning photos of his work…

We’re totally lawyers
Zach Morris is back! Well, not really, but as a handsome man who grew up watching Save by the Bell, I’m glad he’s done with all those ‘real’ and serious roles he’s been doing for a while and decided to come back to his smart-ass usual self. This time, he’s back as part of TNT’s new law show. Now, don’t think this is some sort of advertising, in fact, I don’t know if this show will be any good, but I found the promos funny, specially the ‘reading-your-law-book-for-the-camera’ shot. BTW, Who directs all those attorneys commercials?

Love me tender…
As many of you know by now, I’m a huge Greg Williams fan. His Photography work is superb and his vision, talent and creativity shows in everything he does. Greg, as many other Photographers nowadays, decided to explore new fields such as film and began directing and creating short films for clients like Esquire, LA Times and Agent Provocateur. Today, I want to share a sexy viral short film he directed for Agent Provocateur starring Transformer’s new leading lady Rose Huntington-Whiteley. I must say the ad might be a little to risqué for work, so watch at your own risk.

MAD MEN. Behind the scenes.
Most of you watch or have heard of MAD MEN. And although I have not caught up yet, as a designer/advertising-er, I enjoy the plot, love the fact that it showcases how badass the ‘Golden Age’ of advertising was and the great sets and costumes. If you feel the same way, you will enjoy this post featuring a series of behind the scenes photos the talented James Minchin III shot for Rolling Stone.
