Brand New Awards + My Locos Por Juana logo!

Today is a special, celebration Friday and I want to share some good news. I recently entered a global Design and Branding competition, The 2010 Brand New Awards organized by the super awesome folks at UnderConsideration, and I am excited to share with you that my entry, Identity/Logo for Locos Por Juana, was selected as one of the winners amongst hundreds of amazing and ├╝ber creative entries. You might remember me talking about this project a while back (HERE) but if you are new to the site, you can check the link and learn a bit more about the logo and the process behind it :) I’ve been fortunate to collect a few awards throughout my short career but to be recognized and published together with design giants and agencies I admire so much like Johnson Banks, Wolff Ollins, Helms Workshop, Landor and House Industries is a special type of honor!

If you are a Creative Director, Art Director, Designer, Illustrator, Creative or simply enjoy great books full of beautiful and quality work, you MUST get this book! ANd not only is this collection of awesomeness available as a book, you can also buy it as a PDF or iPad app. Grab your copy today! Believe me, you will thank me later.

A special Thank You to my friends at UnderConsideration Armin and Bryonny for organizing this entire event - I can just imagine the amount of work, time and effort a competition like this requires! – for giving us independent designers the chance to compete against giants like Wolff Ollins, FutureBrand and Johnson Banks to name a few, and yes, for putting up with me from time to time :)

A little info on Brand New Awards by UnderConsideration…
‘If there is one thing that there is no shortage of in the design industry, it is award shows and competitions. From city-specific to regional to global models, there are more than enough opportunities for designers to pit their work against that of their peers and earn a little bit of prestige and validation on their talent and hard work. Even within logo and identity design there are sufficient specialized awards and competitions. So when we decided we would be adding to the glut of publications and organizations asking designers to spend their time and budget on our awards, we wanted to make sure it was not just a well-worth investment of both but that it presented a unique model that celebrated and awarded projects through a scope and approach different than the rest.’UCLLC
