The making of “Born & Raised”

TheeBlog-Born&Raised You might remember a post from last year in which we enjoyed the stunning and inspiring work of David A. Smith and his collaboration with John Mayer in the creation of Mayer’s cover for his latest album Born & Raised. (HERE) If you enjoyed that post as much as I did, I have a treat for you today! I had the pleasure of e-meeting talented UK based Director and Film-Maker Danny Cooke, who was kind enough to share his recently launched short film, featuring the process and inspiration behind this great album cover as well as some beautifully shot scenes. Thank you Danny!

To This Day Project

TheeBlog-ToThisDay It’s only recently (finally) that bullying became a problem news-worthy and dangerous enough for schools, authorities and parents to address. Back in the day, and I mean up to two or three years ago, society would pay little to no attention to this problem and the incurable scars and damage that comes with it, prioritizing things like physical abuse as scars and bruises were easier to find or trace. Unfortunately, it has taken many tragic incidents for us to realize the danger of psychological abuse and we’re all doing our part to eliminate it. From respecting others at work, the supermarket or online, to teaching our kids to be respectful and have an open mind. Today I want to share a beautiful new project created by Shane Koyczan called “To This Day” that blew my mind and made me realize even more, that we all need to improve as humans. NOW. The project is based on a spoken word poem accompanied by a beautiful collaborative collection of 20 second animations from motion artists and animators around the world. Please watch and share this wonderful video…

Windows of New York

TheeBlog-WindowsOfNewYork One of the many, many things I love about New York is its legendary and beautiful architecture. I recently found a lovely new site by New York Designer José Guizar that not only features great illustrations but that also confirms my beliefs that New York architecture inspires people n many different levels. Windows of New York is a weekly illustrated site celebrating the variety and beauty of the city’s sometimes underrated gems. Enjoy!

Map portraits by Ed Fairburn

TheeBlog-EdFairburn Let’s be honest, when was the last time you checked a map? An not the one on your phone, but a real map? Chances are, you haven’t done this in a while, unless you are a tourist or a wife/girlfriend fixed on making a point and showing your better half how lost he is. But it’s not all bad news for old printed maps, Cardiff based artist Ed Fairburn’s beautiful map-portraits bring old maps and their intricate beauty back to life as a unique canvas for Ed’s stunning work.

Menswear Dog

TheeBlog-MenswearDog You know those projects and ideas that when you see them, you automatically feel terrible for not thinking – and more importantly, executing them – first? Well, the site I want to share today is a perfect example of this… As men’s fashion awareness is slowly growing and becoming more mainstream, more and more blogs and sites are popping up all over the interweb, and some, like the one we’ll enjoy today, are simply great. Allow me to introduce you to Menswear Dog. A lovely new men’s style and fashion site that features tips and ideas, with a twist – if you can call a dapper Shiba Inu dog a ‘twist’. Enjoy the awesome photos but don’t be fooled by them, the style tips and advice are spot on!

Google Crashers

TheeBlog-TheInternship Remember Wedding Crashers and that great bromance/chemistry between Owen Wilson and Vince Vaughn? Well, they’re back, but not for a sequel (yet). The Internship is a new movie starring Wilson and Vaughn as ex-salesmen who lose their jobs and somehow end up as Google interns. Could this be the future of movies? A feature, extremely expensive (and profitable) product commercial?

Google Israel offices

TheeBlog-GoogleIsrael I’ve always been a passionate advocate of good architecture and well designed spaces. In fact, I cannot stress enough the importance of a clean, fun and inspiring workspace/office. This should be mandatory! Google is one of those giants that certainly understands the importance of a creative environment for its employees. We’ve seen many of their offices around the world and drooled over their awesome architecture and decoration. Today I want to share one of Google’s latest additions, their Tel Aviv headquarters. An 85,000 sq. ft. campus, designed by Camenzind Evolution, that occupies 8 floors and features an interesting combination of modern and rustic social areas, colorful lighting and of course, a signature Google slide.

Havana Heat

TheeBlog-GoodBooks We all love good books right? Well, if you consider yourself a book worm or even a casual reader, I want to introduce you to Good Books. An organization that will not only provide a wide collection of titles, but will also make you feel good because you are, directly, funding social, medical and environmental projects around the world in partnership with Oxfam. When you buy a book, 100% of the profits are used for these causes. How freakin’ amazing is this!? And to promote this great site, Good Books collaborated with always inspiring The Mill to deliver a beautiful animated novel featuring stunning illustration, animation and way better steamy romance and writting than all Fifty Shades of Grey books together. Check out the short film after the jump and keep on reading!

MIA to LA

TheeBlog_LosAngeles It’s been a little slow here lately and I promised I would explain it all. By the way, thank you for your emails and for checking in, it really means a lot to know that you guys enjoy this blog and that it has become part of your daily life :) So, here’s the deal… 2013 started with a bang for me as an unexpected and great challenge that would change my life knocked on my door. After much consideration, conversations with my family, research and the love and invaluable support of my amazing wife, we decided to take on this challenge and head over to the West Coast – Los Angeles. Yes, I am sad to leave Miami, specially my great family! :( but, I am also excited and looking forward to a new adventure and being part of an amazing company that I’ve always been a fan of, and that has not only made everything easy for my family but also made me feel like I’m part of their family already :) But don’t worry, things will continue to run smoothly here as I slowly make the transition and settle before the summer… Thanks to everyone that has been supportive and continuosly checking up, I promise bigger and better things are coming!

The Underwater Project

TheeBlog-UnderwaterProject I know it’s been a little slow here lately and I apologize for that. But I promise there is a perfectly good and exciting explanation for this… but we’ll get to that later. But wait, this is not another surf photography post… “The Underwater Project” combines candid, real photos and the beauty of the ocean from a different perspective. Super Bowl XLVII Commercials

TheeBlog-SuperBowlAds So, the big game is finally here, and we all know what that means! Yup, a ton of extremely expensive ads that will have us talking for days. Even if they suck… This year, I figured I would do things a little different. Usually, I post about the good and bad commercials after the game, but this year, thanks to the interweb and the fact that everything is available and “leaked”, we get to check out a few of these ads before the game. I know these might not be all, but it is what I’ve found and seen. If you think I’m missing any, let me know :) Check out these ads by Mercedes Benz, Volkswagen, Fiat, Budweiser, Hyundai, Toyota, CocaCola, Allstate, Taco Bell and Milk, featuring Bar Rafaelli, The Rock, Kaley Cuoco, Kate Upton and more…
