Ask Your Dr About Tacos

It’s finally Friday! so we’re gonna keep things light and fun :) But wait, that doesn’t mean I won’t share important information, specially if you have been feeling sleepy, depressed, hungry or simply bored lately. You see, tacos have been around forever, but very few of us truly know their impressive social, psychological and medical benefits. The video I want to share today gives us a very late-night-infomercial glimpse into the world of tacos, its benefits and… side effects. Happy Friday!

Life On Mars

TheeBlog-LifeInMars Remember when we were all kids and imagined a future full of flying cars by the year 2000? Well, we all know that did not happen and to be honest, now that we have grown up and become a bit more technology savvy, the possibility of flying cars seems like something that will never happen. So, what can we make up or dream of now? Space! Forget flying around Earth when you can travel and live in Mars. I recently found this beautiful video by an extremely talented, London based Digital Director / Motion Designer named Lukas Vojir, which combines the possibilities of traveling and living in Mars, amazing motion and illustration skills and a sweet retro track and narration. Mars is looking cool!

Beautiful reflections by Joanna Lemanska

TheeBlog-JoannaLemanska When it comes to Photography, I am a strong believer that 80% of the magic does not come from the camera you use, lenses (well, they do play a very important role) or the models and subjects you shoot. It’s mostly about YOUR view and interpretation of even the most ordinary situations and places. The beautiful photographs of Paris based art historian Joanna Lemanska are a perfect example that no matter what you are shooting with (She uses her iPhone 4s, a Fujifilm x10 or a Nikon Coolpix), your work could also be unique and inspiring if you dare to think differently and find that something special not everyone else sees…

Keep Calm & Carry On

TheeBlog-KeepCalmCarryOn

You’ve seen it everywhere. From posters at agencies, coffee shops or galleries, to mugs, screensavers, t-shirts and tattoos. Oh, and of course, all its numerous satiric variations online. But, do you really know the origin and history of this iconic poster? The fact that it was commissioned and created back in 1939 yet it was never released to the public? There’s more to this poster than just Urban Outfitters iPhone covers, and it is a very interesting and cool story. Today, we’ll learn the history behind the iconic “Keep Calm & Carry On” poster thanks to Barter Books, home of the original poster. Happy Friday!

Posca Artists

I am sure you love finding inspiring videos and short films on vimeo as much as I do. I mean, what better way to “kill time” than watching beautifully produced and filmed films featuring inspiring work and characters? Today, I want to share a recent find. POSCA is a European brand of coloring markers, (don’t understand why we don’t have this brand in the US), with an impressive culture and following. They not only support many artists but also promote art, and organize workshops. (Again, why don’t we have this brand in the US?) This documentary series video features street artists Supakitch and Koralie. Check it out and visit their site for more cool videos!

Sign Painters

TheeBlog-SignPainters I know I’ve talked about how much I enjoy inspiring documentaries before, and how excited I am to see more and more being produced and launched online. (If you have not seen films like Helvetica, Objectified or Linotype, I strongly suggest you do!) Today I want to share a new and upcoming film that I am sure most of you will enjoy. Sign Painters is a documentary by Faythe Levine & Sam Macon featuring the impressive art of lettering, signs and stories of more than two dozen sign painters working in cities throughout the United States. Check out the film’s trailer after the jump!

When I Grow Up

TheeBlog-WhenIGrowUp Many of us had lots of dreams as kids. Many of use wanted to be firefighters, astronauts or Hollywood celebrities. Luckily, I always knew what I wanted (although at first I was about to become an Architect) and I am extremely lucky and grateful for being able to do what I love every day and truly enjoy my career. When I Grow Up is a lovely short film by the talented folks at The Academy featuring an adventurous boy, his dreams and beautiful illustrations, editing and music. Here’s to all you dreamers!

Good Day CA. Again.

TheeBlog-GoodDayCA Since I am, and will be in LA for the rest of the week, I wanted to share again a beautiful project I shared a while back but that came to mind as I drove past great signs and Design around town. So, without further ado, enjoy these fantastic posters… When was your last road trip? Whether it is with friends or family, we all enjoy the freedom, sense of adventure and discovery road trips provide. So, what could make a road trip even better? How about some great illustrated postcards like the ones Braden Wise, a Los Angeles based Designer & Illustrator created to document his cross-country move to California. Good Day CA is a visual memoir of this trip and combines beautiful illustration, typography and Braden’s personal experiences.
