World Cup x Nike Typography

TheeBlog_WorldCupTypography The World Cup is not only a football tournament. It is also a massive marketing circus in which brands compete for attention and supremacy (and by brands I mean Adidas and Nike). As ‘visual people’ we’re always checking and comparing jerseys, but this time, there’s something else to focus on, Typography! I was telling friends how much I enjoyed the Netherlands kit and Type, and recently I found out why I liked it so much. It was created by Wim Crouwel. I knew about Neville Brody’s involvement in the England kit, but I was not aware of Wim Crouwel’s work for the Dutch team… This great interview by the folks at DesignBoom featuring Stu McArthur, design director at NIKE, explains these collaborations and the Design process.
