If you are tired or don’t have time to clean your sneakers (hey! it’s a real thing) and a fan of daytime infomercials, then Jason Markk has something for you. Located in the Little Tokyo district of Los Angeles, the Jason Markk Flagship Store is a concept space which is “The world’s first drop-off shoe care service” and retail boutique that was opened up back in May of 2014.
Remember that iconic Christopher Walken video for Fatboy Slim’s Weapon of Choice? Well, if you were a fan of it and Spike Jonze’s take on storytelling, you will enjoy this new spot he recently directed for KENZO featuring Margaret Qualley. I’ll be the first to say it… she’s got nothing on Walken’s smooth moves, but it is a great watch anyway :)
Because I know some of
you us are still having Copa America + Euro Cup withdrawals, and yes, because Ronaldo finally won a well deserved Euro trophy, here’s the full version of that commercial you kept being teased with throughout the entire tournament and featuring players like Anthony Martial, Harry Kane, and of course, Ronaldo. Enjoy!
As we approach this year’s Euro Cup Final, I wanted to share the lovely title sequences the talented folks at Imaginary Forces created for ESPN. With a lovely ‘paint’ interpretation of each country’s national flag and paying homage to classical sculpture and the patina of old soccer trophies, the opening roars through the ‘field’ of Europe, setting up the 2016 Euro Cup package to push the limits of what a major sporting event identity can be. Check out the behind the scenes video after the jump to see how this intro came to life!
Pepsi has suffered a couple of fails over the years. Remember when they burned Michael Jackson’s hair? Their ridiculous rebrand? Or their recent fiasco during their Back to the Future bottle release? Yet, their latest attempt at being cool might be a little too much, even for them. Pepsi has announced their new artisanal cola (yes, I had to check to make sure it was not an Onion or SNL joke) in order to market to… you guessed it. Millennials! – Yup, that damn term again :/ Check out the photos and video after the jump…
Berlin played host to the global launch of the Nike Flyknit Lunar2, the latest running shoe innovation from Nike. 100 international guests were treated to a Flyknit experience that included exclusive tours of the new Nike store, bespoke fittings, a thrilling 4D projection mapping show on the Europa Centre, a run through Berlin led by four-time Olympic gold medalist Allyson Felix – all culminating with an intimate after party at the top of the Europa Centre.
When it comes to branding and advertising, very few -if any- brands can compete with NIKE. In this new spot by NIKE Basketball featuring LeBron, Kobe, KD, Kyrie, Paul George, Elena, and Anthony Davis, a group of kids try to figure out how some of the best players bring their game and who’s their favorite. Enjoy!
Collaborations between brands have become a hot trend when it comes to fashion – or any type of goods. The mix of two great companies working together to produce limited edition or rare products is something collectors and fans find extremely hard to ignore or miss. Look at Jordan x Supreme for example! To celebrate the release of Star Wars’ newest film, Stance decided to partner up and create a limited edition set of really cool socks featuring the saga’s iconic characters. Being the sock geek I am, and considering Christmas is approaching, I had to share this as soon as I found it.
If there’s something I enjoy more than lovely photography, is the passion, creativity and labor that takes place behind the scenes. When most people get to experience or see the final product, some of us get to experience, and enjoy that hectic, arduous and intense process even more. Today I want to share a video Pirelli + Harper’s Bazaar recently published, featuring behind the scenes footage of the different photo shoots done by Annie Leibovitz – extra bonus! Enjoy.
Johnnie Walker Blue Label has followed up last year’s great ad spot featuring Jude Law and Giancarlo Giannini with a second part, a second wager. This time, featuring a lovely vintage car and Jude Law racing around Monaco. These ads are brilliantly produced and beautifully executed – a bit too good for an ad some might say – but I say NO! If you’re going to work in advertising and create a campaign or ad, go all out! So kudos to Johnnie Walker and Anomaly (agency) for continuing to raise the bar. Oh, and if you didn’t catch the first ad, don’t worry, you can watch it after the jump…
As a recent creative campaign to keep up with other players like Spotify,
Tidal or Apple/Beats in the battle for music power, Google Play Music partnered up with the very talented gals at RoAndCo to create a series of cool ads combining objects with the different genres of music the service offers. “We developed a campaign that merges everyday objects into surreal pairings resulting in playfully evocative still-life compositions for each radio station.” Check out the clever and fun collection after the jump!
H&M recently launched a new campaign video featuring David Beckham and comedian Kevin Hart. And although I am not a fan of Kevin Hart (yes! I said it) the video is pretty funny as Hart tries to go beyond method in order to play David Beckham on a new movie named I, Beckham. Check out the video and some interviews and behind the scenes after the jump.
Banksy strikes again! You may remember the artist’s Guantanamo stunt at Disneyland a couple of years ago (HERE) Well, this time, he took things a little further, creating his own
amusement bemusement park exhibition in Weston-super-Mare, England. Dismaland features a Disney-like castle, mini golf park, a ferris wheel, carousel, and work from 58 global artists. Of course, all with a twist of Bansky. Dismaland is open to the public from August 22 through September 27th. Check out some photos before you book your trip… Continue reading…;
I’m pretty sure we’ve all heard the famous “in my day…” at least once during our career. But when it comes to Design, there really is a before and after. Particularly when we talk about the difference computers made in this industry. Some of us are too young to even know most of the old tools, and methods. Some of us are the type of masochist – like myself – that would learn and experiment with them out of love for the craft or to learn more about Design. Lynda, in collaboration with Sean Adams, released a video demonstrating what it took to design a simple ad before there was any computers or Adobe applications. If you’re definition of old design tools starts with Adobe CS3, I suggest you check out this video :)
For a couple of years now, Spotify has dominated the music streaming field. Yes, there’s Pandora, Beats, the rise of… wait, what happened to Tidal? and many more, but if you think mainstream and popularity, I think it’s safe to say Spotify leads the pack. Apple knew this, and as always, didn’t want to stay behind. And while Tidal was making noise, they were working quietly in a new service released yesterday during WWDC15. Apple Music.
I’ve always been a fan of Virgin airlines and their cool safety videos (I believe they were one of the first ones that introduced a different approach). But this week, Delta released an new gem created by the brilliant folks at Wieden+Kennedy, featuring the Internet. Not really much to say… just enjoy it. Happy Friday!
There are certain artists and celebrities known for their Midas touch. Justin Timberlake is definitely one of them. Everything he touches… well, except Cameron Diaz and MySpace – but hey! He definitely owns May. His new venture Sauza 901 has been steadily growing and hitting mainstream media. And to help push the brand, he recently launched a new advertising campaign, featuring himself, as a lime. This is a great example of a good ad spot featuring a celebrity that knows how to use his image and humor. Consider it advertising inspiration – As I am sure there are many meetings going on now, talking about this video and how they could make “something similar, but better and funnier”
