You might remember my post last week about Social Media Week (HERE) Well, I had the opportunity to attend (and LiveStream) a few interesting and inspiring panel discussions ranging from Tourism to Branding, Music and Fashion and learn from different organizations and experts the effect social media offers their campaigns and the impact it has over consumers and society. Remember those nudie magazines your friends used to bring to school? You know, those old Playboy relics they used to steal from that single ‘cool, uncle’. Whether you admit it or not (you might be at work, in that case, we’ll stick to the ‘articles’ story), Playboy has been present for ages and can be considered part of the American life. And now, a new app has been released, containing all Playboy covers -and believe you me this will bring back memories :) Now, I must admit that I mostly decided to post this because I know a few friends who decided to create and design apps and have gone through hell and back trying to get Apple’s approval. TheeBlog Q&A Sessions: NALDEN/WeTransfer

Inkling by Wacom
I admit it, I am sucker for well designed and productivity-enhancing products. And watching Wacom’s new toy, INKLING demo video and site made my day today! Brand New Awards + My Locos Por Juana logo!
Today is a special, celebration Friday and I want to share some good news. I recently entered a global Design and Branding competition, The 2010 Brand New Awards organized by the super awesome folks at UnderConsideration, and I am excited to share with you that my entry, Identity/Logo for Locos Por Juana, was selected as one of the winners amongst hundreds of amazing and über creative entries. You might remember me talking about this project a while back (HERE) but if you are new to the site, you can check the link and learn a bit more about the logo and the process behind it :) I’ve been fortunate to collect a few awards throughout my short career but to be recognized and published together with design giants and agencies I admire so much like Johnson Banks, Wolff Ollins, Helms Workshop, Landor and House Industries is a special type of honor!

We love apps! Specially when they can help us find the best bars, restaurants and events in town. And this is exactly what YELP does! Yelp is a social networking, user review, and local search website that has changed the way restaurants and patrons interact. I invited my good friend and Community Manager for Yelp Miami, Maria Argüello for a brief Q&A session. I’ve known Maria for over a year and have witnessed how she has helped Yelp Miami establish as a community nerve center and become the mecca thousands of yelpers in Miami, and surrounding areas, turn to share reviews, events and anecdotes. Considering the tremendous growth and popularity of Yelp’s website & app (more than 53 million monthly unique visitors as of late 2010!) FontBook + iPad!
You don’t have to be a Typophile to love or appreciate good fonts. In fact, I strongly encourage friends to visit Type Foundry sites and blogs so that they understand why most of us designers struggle and sometimes obsess over finding the right one! - And why we hate Comic Sans! FontShop, one of the biggest font resellers worldwide, recenlty launched a sweet iPad version of their famous FontBook which is not only great looking, but very helpful and effective as well. I’ll pay you back man…
Let’s face it, we’ve all been there. Night out with a few friends, lunch meeting, etc. and you were not able to pay for valet or a cab. I know this is true because I never carry cash on me (hear this muggers) and hate looking for an ATM. Now, how many times do you really pay your buddy those $5 back? Thanks to Venmo you can forget about those annoying trips to the ATM or even worse, looking like a douchebag for not paying your buddies. Venmo allows you and your friends to create an account and transfer money back and forth via smartphones. Their description says it all… ‘It’s like your phone and your wallet had a beautiful baby’

1000 FACES
Admit it. You spend about half your day ‘researching’ Facebook at work. Hey! there’s nothing wrong with that, research is always crucial to any organization ;) We love and live Facebook, but have you ever asked yourself, why? How would you explain your story? Today I want to share a new interactive social media experiment AND book project created by German based agency On Any Given Monday and Photographer Stefan Milev. The project/book aims to find answers by Facebook users through their application page, which later will be included and published as part of an official book available worldwide. But that’s not all, all proceeds will go to two non-profit organizations – Earth Focus and Aloha in Action! Special thanks to Creative Director and buddy Marko Puclin for the help ;)
