Online gambling has come a long way. Many have managed to incorporate lots of features you’d expect to find in regular casinos all without ever having to leave your home. It can truly be an exhilarating experience without the hassle of going out. After conquering tasks like this though, you’d expect that appealing the masses wouldn’t be hard, eh? Well, unfortunately in advertising things don’t always go to plan. Marketing is a tricky business. Sometimes marketers get things very right. For example, check out how Lexus managed to have us all salivating over the new Lexus RC F.
As a recent creative campaign to keep up with other players like Spotify,
Tidal or Apple/Beats in the battle for music power, Google Play Music partnered up with the very talented gals at RoAndCo to create a series of cool ads combining objects with the different genres of music the service offers. “We developed a campaign that merges everyday objects into surreal pairings resulting in playfully evocative still-life compositions for each radio station.” Check out the clever and fun collection after the jump!
For a couple of years now, Spotify has dominated the music streaming field. Yes, there’s Pandora, Beats, the rise of… wait, what happened to Tidal? and many more, but if you think mainstream and popularity, I think it’s safe to say Spotify leads the pack. Apple knew this, and as always, didn’t want to stay behind. And while Tidal was making noise, they were working quietly in a new service released yesterday during WWDC15. Apple Music.
Today. – I’m going to keep it suspenseful and mysterious.
I have to admit that I have never seen an Adobe commercial – in national television, at least. So, last night after the Oscars, a collection of cool, captivating images and designs caught my attention. After a couple of seconds I literally dropped a “Is this a Photoshop commercial?”, and indeed it was! If you haven’t yet, check out this cool ad spot that celebrates Photoshop’s 25 years. #DreamOn
When Adobe Illustrator first shipped in 1987, it was the first software application for a young company that had, until then, focused solely on Adobe PostScript. The new product not only altered Adobe’s course, it changed drawing and graphic design forever. Interviews include cofounder John Warnock, his wife Marva, artists and designers Ron Chan, Bert Monroy, Dylan Roscover and Jessica Hische.
It’s been a long, rocky road. But after all the petitions, campaigns and efforts from all of us since last year (HERE), Miami has joined the 21st century as UBER has finally arrived. And although we only get UberX for now, this is a huge step in the right direction. This is great news Miami! If you haven’t experienced Uber yet, I strongly recommend you give it a try (that’s all it takes). To celebrate its arrival, Uber is offering free rides around Miami until June 20th, so experience for yourself what all the buzz is about. Oh! and if you can’t make it before June 20th, here’s a code for $10 off your first UBER ride pt4s8.
While everyone is still wondering how Google Glass works or who has been able to get a pair in order to experience them, Google has been busy working on its new toy. A new watch that promises to make all things look and work better, and beat all other smart watches like Samsung or Motorola. Android Wear is Google’s new baby, and its interface, released last week, is nice, simple and effective. Check out some samples and a video after the jump.
Big news for all of us Instagram lovers as the launch of Instagram Profiles on the Web has been announced. Yup, your IG photos will now be easier to
stalk browse and share online thanks to yo your very own custom page… which looks just like your Facebook profile. Really? That’s the best they could do? Although they are not fully available yet, there are a few pages you can check out in the meantime… Opinions?
Let’s face it, we’ve all gotten that call from a friend or relative frantically stating ‘My email is not working!’ and asking us to fix it. I mean, we use computers on a daily basis so we should be experts right? Well, if you are your family or friends’ designated IT tech OR if you feel your computer has some sort of vendetta against you and your emails I have a solution for you. I recently had the pleasure of meeting Ivan Mladenovic President/CEO of Preemo, a Miami based company with a fresh and interesting take on IT/computer repair, and invited him to chat and tell us more about Preemo’s services and unique features…
The internet is full of rumors. Some bad and some freakin’ amazing ones like the one I want to share today. To state that Instagram has become one of the most popular, loved and downloaded apps would be an understatement. In fact, I know most of you reading this right now have an account (ahem… theeblog) But what if this app could turn into a real camera capable of shooting, editing and printing all your photos? Sweet, I know… Thanks to the great folks at ADR Studio, this could become a reality! The Socialmatic Camera Project has been launched, hoping to get support and contributions from Instagramers around the world in order to produce this beauty! Check out some prototype photos and support the cause!
We all know what happened to that “…in the year 2,000 there will be flying cars!” theory so let’s bring it down a notch. Imagine a watch that can control your iTunes library, receive emails, calendar alerts, Facebook and Twitter feeds while GPS’ing and computing your runs, cycling and even golf? Too good to be true? Well, meet Pebble. A watch that does… everything I just mentioned :)
You have no idea the amount of emails, comments, messages and even reader-created samples I’ve received ever since I posted and shared my love for Jamie Beck and Kevin Burg’s Cinemagraphs. Yes, those magically beautiful ‘animated photos’ we all fell in love with (HERE, HERE and HERE) Well, good news! Thanks to Flixel, now you can create your own Cinemagraphs in seconds. Check out this great new App after the jump, and send in your own masterpieces :)
You knew it was just a matter of time…
You might remember my post last week about Social Media Week (HERE) Well, I had the opportunity to attend (and LiveStream) a few interesting and inspiring panel discussions ranging from Tourism to Branding, Music and Fashion and learn from different organizations and experts the effect social media offers their campaigns and the impact it has over consumers and society. I can honestly say I learned a few tricks and had the pleasure of meeting amazingly talented friends and a couple of readers :) It was a great week full of knowledge, sharing, learning and networking and I can’t wait to attend next year! Check out some photos after the jump…
Remember those nudie magazines your friends used to bring to school? You know, those old Playboy relics they used to steal from that single ‘cool, uncle’. Whether you admit it or not (you might be at work, in that case, we’ll stick to the ‘articles’ story), Playboy has been present for ages and can be considered part of the American life. And now, a new app has been released, containing all Playboy covers -and believe you me this will bring back memories :) Now, I must admit that I mostly decided to post this because I know a few friends who decided to create and design apps and have gone through hell and back trying to get Apple’s approval. How’s this for ‘following rules’ guys? Check out the app and download it if you want to feel again like a horny 13 year old boy. Or girl…
I was recently introduced to a new and entertaining iPhone game combining evil robots and fighter babes. Yes! What else can you ask for? And to promote this addictive game app, Rob Chamorro at Tiny Spaceman created these series of cool retro posters. Check out these posters, download the game and kill some robots!
We’ve all been there. Client asks you to email files so they can share it with their spouses and cats. Problem is, your files are too large to be emailed and you need to send them stat! Worry not friends, there’s an easy, sexy, cool and free way to get this done! It’s called WeTransfer and it rocks! To put it simple, it’s a file transfer site that allows you to email up to 2GB files FREE while providing a sweet dose of eye candy. I had the pleasure of virtually meeting Nalden, creator of WeTransfer not too long ago and because I LOVE his product so much and I recommend it to everyone I meet, I thought it would be a good idea to invite him and chat a bit about the inspiration behind the site, how it all works and why not, his world-domination goals and future projects.
I admit it, I am sucker for well designed and productivity-enhancing products. And watching Wacom’s new toy, INKLING demo video and site made my day today! Here’s a brief intro: Wacom introduces Inkling, a new digital sketch pen that captures a digital likeness of your work while you sketch with its ballpoint tip on any sketchbook or standard piece of paper. Check out a demo video and some photos after the jump.
Today is a special, celebration Friday and I want to share some good news. I recently entered a global Design and Branding competition, The 2010 Brand New Awards organized by the super awesome folks at UnderConsideration, and I am excited to share with you that my entry, Identity/Logo for Locos Por Juana, was selected as one of the winners amongst hundreds of amazing and über creative entries. You might remember me talking about this project a while back (HERE) but if you are new to the site, you can check the link and learn a bit more about the logo and the process behind it :) I’ve been fortunate to collect a few awards throughout my short career but to be recognized and published together with design giants and agencies I admire so much like Johnson Banks, Wolff Ollins, Helms Workshop, Landor and House Industries is a special type of honor!
We love apps! Specially when they can help us find the best bars, restaurants and events in town. And this is exactly what YELP does! Yelp is a social networking, user review, and local search website that has changed the way restaurants and patrons interact. I invited my good friend and Community Manager for Yelp Miami, Maria Argüello for a brief Q&A session. I’ve known Maria for over a year and have witnessed how she has helped Yelp Miami establish as a community nerve center and become the mecca thousands of yelpers in Miami, and surrounding areas, turn to share reviews, events and anecdotes. Considering the tremendous growth and popularity of Yelp’s website & app (more than 53 million monthly unique visitors as of late 2010!) I thought it would be a great idea to invite her to chat and share a few facts about social media, blogs, Yelp and of course, Miami.
