The Untold Truth Of Rogue One

As the first true standalone story in the Star Wars saga, there was a whole lot riding on Rogue One. But the story surrounding the film is almost as interesting as the one we watched on the big screen. From axed cameos to the film’s humble beginnings, there’s a whole lot more to Rogue One than just Jyn’s quest to snag the Death Star plans…

Vanity Fair Oscars Portraits by Mark Seliger

TheeBlog_OscarsVanityFairPortrairs
The Academy Awards are the Hollywood version of your High School prom. Celebrities play dress up and try to behave – even the trashy ones. And like any other prom or I-spent-money-on-this-dress-so-I-better-get-some-photos event, there are many photo ops and photos I am sure you’ve seen around, including red carpet, winners gallery, etc. But the one gallery that caught my attention and that I enjoyed was this series of photos taken by the talented Mark Seliger at Vanity Fair’s Oscars Party. Check out the series after the jump and learn your pose for the next office party…

ANT-MAN Trailer

Let’s be honest. How many of you knew Ant-Man was a real Marvel super hero? I know… But, I am sure everyone will know and love Ant-Man after the movie drops this summer. I personally love the casting of Paul Rudd for the role and can’t wait to watch it. But you don’t want to read, you want to watch the trailer. Enjoy.

Straight Outta Compton!

TheeBlog_NWA With all the ignorance and stupidity regarding music coming out of Twitter - yes, I’m talking about the people who have no idea who Paul McCartney, Missy Elliot or Beck are - I thought it is important to share this upcoming movie I just stumbled upon this week, you know, before someone thinks Dr. Dre is trying to be the new Pharell. What’s the movie you ask? Well, it’s the story about the roots and rise of N.W.A. I know!!! Check out the great trailer after the jump!

Man Seeking Woman

We all have favorite TV shows, and as a visual type of guy, I know I am not alone when I say that we would always pay extra attention to the opening titles, animation, music, etc. Don’t believe me? Just play “I’ll be there for you” by The Rembrandts, and everyone around you will be dropping FRIENDS’ quotes within minutes. FXX’s new show, “Man Seeking Woman” recently dropped beautiful, different and interesting opening titles based on minimalist line illustrations that you have to check out. I mean, this is great news for TV – More Design is always good! In the sequence, symbols of ordinary dating life mix with over-the-top, genre-spanning imagery, reflecting the unique narrative device used in the series.

Oscar nominees. Pixarized.

TheeBlog-PixarOscarPosters The 2014 Oscars are scheduled to air in less than a week (March 2) and as always, there will be films we have never heard of – and some films that we love. But when it comes to these year’s films’ posters, illustrator and artist Todd Spence decided to twist things up a bit and give each nominated poster a fun new ‘Pixar look’ by replacing their main heroes with Pixar movies characters. Don’t know about you, but that Wolf of Wall Street one… pure gold!

Recent Work: EL REY Network

TheeBlog-DiegoGuevara_ElRey_ID It’s been a while since I share some personal work, and since January is all about resolutions, goals and new starts, I figured it would be a good idea to share a great project I had the pleasure and fortune of working on recently… It all started with a phone call, you know, the ones that simply happen when you least expect it and that in a matter of seconds not only capture your complete attention, but also manage to get your creativity going crazy. Well, I recently received one of those phone calls asking me if I would be interested in working on a secret cool project for a very well known Hollywood client. After a couple of details and without thinking twice, I immediately accepted and began sketching ideas. The challenge: Hollywood Director Robert Rodriguez and his newest and ambitious television project, EL REY Network.

Game of Thrones. Corporate Edition.

_TheeBlog-GameofThronesCorporate When it comes to TV series, everyone’s got a favorite. And although I am no TV expert, I’ve seen and know very well the huge success and popularity of HBO’s Game of Thrones. (Yes, I have not been able to watch it yet… don’t judge me bro!) To celebrate the third-season premiere of Game of Thrones, the folks at Shutterstock branded each of the show’s Kingdoms as modern day corporations. Man, Madoff would’ve been perfect for this!

Arrested Development records

TheeBlog-ArrestedDevelopment With the news of a new Arrested Development season – and movie – coming soon, I have to admit I’ve been re-watching all episodes and yes, I still laugh at the same jokes. In fact, I know many of you are probably doing the same, so today I want to share a post dedicated to the Bluth family and each one of its members. Wisconsin based Designer Josh Cox recently released a cool personal project featuring characters of the show in a cool retro way, inspired by the beautiful work of Ty Mattson for Homeland (Here). Check them out after the jump and if you have never watched Arrested Development, you must check it out. You’ll understand they hype…

Google Crashers

TheeBlog-TheInternship Remember Wedding Crashers and that great bromance/chemistry between Owen Wilson and Vince Vaughn? Well, they’re back, but not for a sequel (yet). The Internship is a new movie starring Wilson and Vaughn as ex-salesmen who lose their jobs and somehow end up as Google interns. Could this be the future of movies? A feature, extremely expensive (and profitable) product commercial?

Super Bowl XLVII Commercials

TheeBlog-SuperBowlAds So, the big game is finally here, and we all know what that means! Yup, a ton of extremely expensive ads that will have us talking for days. Even if they suck… This year, I figured I would do things a little different. Usually, I post about the good and bad commercials after the game, but this year, thanks to the interweb and the fact that everything is available and “leaked”, we get to check out a few of these ads before the game. I know these might not be all, but it is what I’ve found and seen. If you think I’m missing any, let me know :) Check out these ads by Mercedes Benz, Volkswagen, Fiat, Budweiser, Hyundai, Toyota, CocaCola, Allstate, Taco Bell and Milk, featuring Bar Rafaelli, The Rock, Kaley Cuoco, Kate Upton and more…

Wanted Melody

TheeBlog-MelodyWanted It is no secret I love animation films. Specially well done ones! The amount of dedication, time and impressive detail that goes into every animated film, feature or short, is absolutely admirable. I recently received a great and… surprising western short film directed by 3 Supinfocom students, Paul Jaulmes, Boris Croisé, and Guillaume Cunis featuring an interesting cast and brilliant production full of lovely animations, color and music. To put it simple, Wanted Melody is a fun western short film with an unexpected twist!

Man of Steel

TheeBlog-ManOfSteel Continuing this trailer Tuesday, I want to share a just released second trailer for a movie that has been around for many years (and not-so-good versions) and that this time around looks very promising. Actually, forget promising… it looks badass! Man of Steel , Directed by Christopher Nolan and starring Henry Cavill promise to tell the story of Clark Kent, from a very different perspective. A Nolan perspective – yes, he’s the director of the Dark Knight trilogy. I have to say it, the trailers look great but the music… the music definitely gets me pumped!

Air New Zealand + The Hobbit

TheeBlog-AirNewZealandHobbit Let’s face it, airplane safety videos are dull, boring and sometimes annoying (and painful, like those old 90s videos AmericanAirlines still plays). Yes, I know they can save lives but we’re not here to make sense are we? But wait, not all airlines have this “who gives a shit” attitude when it comes to their onboard experience. Jet Blue and Virgin Airlines, for example, have turned me not only into a customer but a fan as well. Last year I had the chance of flying Virgin and watched what until today, was the coolest and funnest safety video I had seen. Today, I want to share a new addition to the cool safety video club, courtesy of Air New Zealand. Their fun and over-the-top Hobbit inspired feature shows how something so dull as a safety video could be turned into a fun and entertaining experience with just a bit of caring. Check out the video after the jump!

Iron Man 3

TheeBlog-IronMan3 Even though the movie won’t be released until may 2013, I can’t deny I am excited. Yes, some people might say that Iron Man jumped the shark after the first movie or that the movies are not good, but as a father of two boys, believe me, there is nothing cooler than watching super hero movies and playing them out later! Here’s the first official trailer for Iron Man 3.

Thank You Felix!

TheeBlog-RedBullStratos I’ve always had this fascination with space and I remember many dreams involving space travel or being able to ‘fly out there’. Well, yesterday, the dream of an adventurous kid became a reality as he was the first human being to travel to the edge of space with the unique goal of freefalling down to earth. Today I want to thank Felix Baumgartner for inspiring kids (and many of us) to keep dreaming and fight for their dreams. And also share some stunning photos and video of his amazingly supersonic freefall from 128k feet, which happened yesterday, in case you live under a rock :) If you are still not familiar with this fun mission, here’s a brief explanation: Austrian skydiver and BASE jumper Felix Baumgartner, sponsored by Red Bull, traveled to the edge of space to jump back to earth breaking a few records such as fastest freefall (breaking sound barrier), altitude and time records. For the detailed description, continue reading…

Departure Date

TheeBlog-DepartureDate Last year I had the opportunity to visit San Francisco (HERE) and as part of my vacation itinerary, I decided to fly Virgin Airlines and experience the great service many friends have always raved about. I am happy to share that all the great comments were absolutely right. The great service, the in-flight entertainment, and the cool lounge-like interiors were simply great. This, combined with the admiration I’ve always had for Sir Richard Branson (any person who owns his own Island and hangs out with Victoria’s Secret models is A-OK in my book) have made a fan out of me and as one, I want to share Virgin’s new project as a Film Production Company. Departure Date is a film shot entirely aboard Virgin airplanes… oh, and as an extra bonus, it features my boy Luis Guzman!
