Tuesday Bassen vs ZARA

TheeBlog_TuesdayBassen-ZARA It is no secret that ZARA has seen its fare share of legal battles and accusations of stealing artists’ work, but this new case including LA artist Tuesday Bassen might make you cringe. To explain it briefly, Tuesday Bassen asked ZARA to stop stealing her artwork, and ZARA said “the lack of distinctiveness of your client’s purported designs makes it very hard to see how a significant part of the population anywhere in the world would associate the signs with Tuesday Bassen”. Then they stole her art five more times. Yup, crazy. Check out an interview and article about this case HERE Stay legit, peeps!

2016 NIKE National Football Federation Kits

TheeBlog_2016-football-federation-kits-NIKE If you are a football/soccer fan, here’s your Friday treat! NIKE just dropped the new 2016 Football Federation Kits and most of these already have a spot reserved in my collection! That Portugal away… Turkey… Chile. But it is not only about looks, these are the most technologically advanced kits to date, Nike Vapor Kits with AeroSwift technology are 10% lighter, with 50% more stretch than the kits they replace. They employ a new, textured high-performance yarn that wicks sweat from the skin 20% faster than Nike’s most recent football kits, while also drying 25% faster. Additionally, both the shirt and shorts are constructed using a new knitting process that integrates single and double knit to enhance breathability, stretch, and fit. Continue reading…;

Vanity Fair Oscars Portraits by Mark Seliger

TheeBlog_OscarsVanityFairPortrairs
The Academy Awards are the Hollywood version of your High School prom. Celebrities play dress up and try to behave – even the trashy ones. And like any other prom or I-spent-money-on-this-dress-so-I-better-get-some-photos event, there are many photo ops and photos I am sure you’ve seen around, including red carpet, winners gallery, etc. But the one gallery that caught my attention and that I enjoyed was this series of photos taken by the talented Mark Seliger at Vanity Fair’s Oscars Party. Check out the series after the jump and learn your pose for the next office party…

TheeBlog_Stance-StarWars Collaborations between brands have become a hot trend when it comes to fashion – or any type of goods. The mix of two great companies working together to produce limited edition or rare products is something collectors and fans find extremely hard to ignore or miss. Look at Jordan x Supreme for example! To celebrate the release of Star Wars’ newest film, Stance decided to partner up and create a limited edition set of really cool socks featuring the saga’s iconic characters. Being the sock geek I am, and considering Christmas is approaching, I had to share this as soon as I found it.

Sneakerheadz. The Documentary.

TheeBlog_Sneakerheadz You know that saying “You can always judge a man by his shoes”? Well, it is true. Shoes have the power to represent who we are or how we feel. And although that saying was probably meant for men rocking brogues or double monk-straps, now you can tell a lot about people by their sneakers. You can say I am a humble collector based on the pairs of NIKE sneakers I own, and yes, I admit I’ve gone out of my way and perhaps spent good money on special sneakers, but I’m not even close to the level of dedication and serious money sneakerheads are willing to invest. What once sounded “crazy” is now a lifestyle. A very lucrative and passionate lifestyle…

Stunning Photography by Pierre Dal Corso

TheeBlog-PierreDalCorso We all know Fashion Photography is a tough, tricky business. I mean, if the Photographer is missing that special ’something’ or a unique style, their work might be at risk of being lost amongst a sea of photographers and books out there. Well, luckily for us, Paris based Fashion Photographer Pierre Dal Corso tends to play and experiment with styles, techniques and ideas, A LOT, making his work unique and memorable. His photos combine the right amount of color, lighting and sexiness! But don’t let me tell you, check out some of his work… BTW, there might be a few NSFW photos.

Pan Am Flies Again

TheeBlog-PanAm From its founding in the 1920s to its peak in the 1960s and 1970s, Pan Am set the status quo when it came to international travel. Everyone wanted to fly Pan Am, other airlines wanted to be Pan Am, and everyone wanted to work for Pan Am. Revered by the rich and famous, the traveling public, enthusiasts and employees alike, its legacy lives on to this day. And to celebrate it, Los Angeles based photographer Michael Kelley partnered with Anthony Toth, one of the world’s foremost experts on aviation history, to bring Pan Am back to life in 2014. This is the story of Pan Am Flight 120, from Los Angeles International to London Heathrow on a Boeing 747-200, Clipper Gem Of The Ocean – Specially dedicated to my brother, who is a pilot and whose love for aviation is beyond contagious :)

Latest Project: Miami MLS Team

TheeBlog-DiegoGuevara-MiamiFC It’s been seven months since David Beckham announced his intention to bring an MLS team to Miami, and even though I’ve never trusted Miami politicians, I was excited because I love the game and would love to get my kids involved in it as I was since a very early age. So, I ignored the “Don’t trust Gimenez” banners – which proved to be accurate – and watched the press conference, joined my local official supporters group and shared the news with friends. Fast forward a few months and we are still in limbo. We have no stadium location (mostly because Beckham is funding this project privately, which means no commissions for local politicians and contractors), we don’t have a team name or even an identity. Needless to say, every other MLS team and city in the US is laughing at us. Now, for a couple of months I’ve been thinking about this issue and the possibility of taking action and doing my part to spread the word and at least get the ball rolling on this subject. Unfortunately, I haven’t been able due to my busy schedule, until now. Last week I had to travel to Chicago for a couple of days, so I realized it was the perfect excuse to disconnect from work, and use a couple of free hours to develop my ideas and build a Miami Team (if you check towards the end, you’ll see real photos of work taking place mid-flight). I challenged myself to develop a complete branding case study in less than a week, and here are the results…

Beautiful Portraits by Eric Ogden

TheeBlog-EricOgden We all have at least one favorite celebrity, musician or actor. Today I want to share a collection of beautiful celebrity portraits by Brooklyn based Photographer, Eric Ogden. Each one of these portraits is evidence of Eric’s impressive talent, creativity and exquisite use of light; not to mention the reason why his work is constantly featured in publications like Vanity Fair, Esquire, Vogue and Rolling Stone. The Marty McFly

TheeBlog-MartyMcFly_Tshirt So, Valentine’s day is approaching and I am sure there are still a few of you out there looking for that perfect gift. You know, that little something different and unique that you could only find if you do some research – because flowers and chocolates are… a bit dated. So, being that I am a nice guy, and that I tend to spend a couple of hours a week ‘researching the interweb’, I decided this week is all about cool and unique gifts (for both) that you may not find at CVS. Since it is a given that ladies always get the good stuff, we’ll start with the dudes, and what better way to start than with this badass Back to the Future – Marty McFly tshirt! Think about it ladies, your boyfriend will love it (unless he’s not into Back to the Future – in that case, break up with him!) and you can feel like a cool and hot Jennifer Parker. You are welcome!

TheeBlog-BipolarTshirt_CottonBureau Last year I launched a t-shirt project and debuted the Bipolar Tee (HERE) As most of you probably already know, the demand for this shirt surpassed any goals or plans (completely sold out!) and received a lot of love globally, as we received orders from all continents – including countries like Japan, South Africa, Brazil, Australia, Germany and many more. Today I want to share some exciting news, specially for those of you who are still after one of these babies. The Bipolar Tee is available again thanks to the awesome folks at Cotton Bureau. Wes Anderson + PRADA

When it comes to collaborations, big Fashion houses always go the extra mile and commission beautiful projects. Remember Cartier’s Panther, or Louis Vuiton’s Muhammad Ali tribute? Well, PRADA also decided to join the fun and play by releasing a great collaboration with none other than Mr. Wes Anderson. The project? A beautiful Anderson-esque short film! Castello Cavalcanti is the story of a race car driver, featuring Jason Schwartzman circa 1955 Italy. As always, Wes Anderson delivers beautifully as he makes you forget you are watching a ‘product’ film. Well done Prada!
