Pepsi 1893

TheeBlog_Pepsi1893 Pepsi has suffered a couple of fails over the years. Remember when they burned Michael Jackson’s hair? Their ridiculous rebrand? Or their recent fiasco during their Back to the Future bottle release? Yet, their latest attempt at being cool might be a little too much, even for them. Pepsi has announced their new artisanal cola (yes, I had to check to make sure it was not an Onion or SNL joke) in order to market to… you guessed it. Millennials! – Yup, that damn term again :/ Check out the photos and video after the jump…

Sugar Series by Emily Blincoe

Maybe, down the line – although it’s not as fun as it sounds – but we all need some sugar from time to time. If you love candy, and enjoy organization, you’ll enjoy today’s post featuring a fun photo series by Austin based Photographer Emily Blincoe. “Sugar Series” is a collection of well organized and delicious candy, arranged by color. Playing With Food

TheeBlog-PlayingWithFood Remember when your mom used to tell you not to play with your food? Well, that rule still applies, unless you’re feeling adventurous in the bedroom (or dungeon) OR if you are as talented as Malaysian artist-architect, Hong Yi. Mostly known as “Red”, Hong Yi creates stunning pieces of art utilizing various elements and objects. One of her latest projects, ‘31 Days of Creativity with Food’, features different scenarios ranging from popular stories like 3 Little Pigs to iconic art pieces like Warhol’s Campbells can or Munch’s painting The Scream, all created using food!!! Make sure you show this to your mom…

Ask Your Dr About Tacos

It’s finally Friday! so we’re gonna keep things light and fun :) But wait, that doesn’t mean I won’t share important information, specially if you have been feeling sleepy, depressed, hungry or simply bored lately. Mugshot Monday

TheeBlog-MugshotMonday

There’s something special about the relationship between coffee and coffee lovers. Something that perhaps non-coffee drinkers like me might not understand. I mean, the passion with which my wife (who drinks enough coffee for both of us) shops, selects, prepares and enjoys her daily coffee is truly intriguing, altho it could also be that I am in love and everything this woman does mesmerizes me :) Point is, I had one of those “I must share this” moments while browsing the interweb this past weekend, when I came across a site that caught my attention and immediately made me think of every cool coffee lover I know. Mugshot Monday is an interesting and fun site created by Lisa Frame which features and combines creative and inspiring people with… their love for coffee. Happy Monday!

The Shops at Target

TheeBlog-TheShopsAtTarget I’ve always believed good design, strong branding and clever advertising are essential for organizations, specially in the retail world. Target is a perfect example of a company that not only understood this, but also believed and executed this simple formula to perfection, giving it a considerable advantage over its competition. What I personally love about this brand is that they are constantly evolving and taking on new ideas and concepts. Ideas that range from ambitious and extremely successful collaborations with iconic brands like Missoni or Jason Wu to their newest venture, The Shops at Target. An innovative boutique concept that was launched this week and that I am sure you will see soon at your local stores. Learn more after the jump!

The Real Cookbook

TheeBlog-RealCookbook I’ve always been a fan of books and know most of you love them as well. Specially my wife! And yes, although I love technology, iPad ‘books’ could never offer you that lovely ‘feel’, ‘warmth’ and ’scent’ good ol’ printed books can. But what if you could also ‘taste’ books? The folks at Korefe decided to check it and created a unique and delicious book made out of pasta for one of their publishing clients. The book can be customized to include your favorite ingredients while still featuring beautifully designed paragraphs and type. Wonder if this works for erotic novels…

In fact, I carry one with me at all times and I can safely say I use it on a daily basis. Now, imagine how sweet (pun intended ha!) it would be if you could taste your favorite Pantone color? Well, thanks to French Food Designer Emilie de Griottes, now we can! Emilie created beautiful and delicious dessert tarts to illustrate some of the most popular Pantone colors used. The Story of Sushi

I know most of you love Sushi. But, do you really know its story? This great and elaborate video is here to help and teach us the how, where and why of Sushi. Oh, and on a side note, it was completely created using miniature figures and took only 7 months… yeah. It is a great and well executed idea, although I must admit the narrator’s voice bothered me a little since it felt a little too’movie trailer’ and didn’t follow the international Narration & Voice Over Guidelines’ number one (and most important) rule: Hire Morgan Freeman.

Run Chicken, Run.

TheeBlog-YardBird

By now, most of you know me well and know that I love to post and share work, places or stories I like or find inspiring. You may also remember I promised to post more food-related material after our interview with our cool friend Maria Argüello (Yelp’s Community Manager) HERE And today I not only keep my promise, I also bring you a sweet new spot I recently discovered (heard a lot of buzz ) which might soon become the coolest shack in town! Yardbird – Southern Table & Bar is Miami Beach’s newest gem, and could be easily described as a hybrid between a hip SOHO bar + Cracker Barrel. This southern style shack perfectly combines lovely branding, beautiful architecture/interiors & delicious food. What more can you ask for!

TheeBlog Q&A Sessions: Maria Argüello

TheeBlog-MariaArguello
We love apps! Specially when they can help us find the best bars, restaurants and events in town. And this is exactly what YELP does! Yelp is a social networking, user review, and local search website that has changed the way restaurants and patrons interact. I invited my good friend and Community Manager for Yelp Miami, Maria Argüello for a brief Q&A session. I’ve known Maria for over a year and have witnessed how she has helped Yelp Miami establish as a community nerve center and become the mecca thousands of yelpers in Miami, and surrounding areas, turn to share reviews, events and anecdotes. Considering the tremendous growth and popularity of Yelp’s website & app (more than 53 million monthly unique visitors as of late 2010!) I thought it would be a great idea to invite her to chat and share a few facts about social media, blogs, Yelp and of course, Miami.
