The internet is full of rumors. Some bad and some freakin’ amazing ones like the one I want to share today. To state that Instagram has become one of the most popular, loved and downloaded apps would be an understatement. In fact, I know most of you reading this right now have an account (ahem… theeblog) But what if this app could turn into a real camera capable of shooting, editing and printing all your photos? Sweet, I know… Thanks to the great folks at ADR Studio, this could become a reality! The Socialmatic Camera Project has been launched, hoping to get support and contributions from Instagramers around the world in order to produce this beauty! Check out some prototype photos and support the cause!

edX
As a strong believer and supporter of continuing education, I think it is imperative to constantly ‘update’ ourselves and utilize any means available to improve as professionals… and human beings. With that being said, today I am excited to share a brilliant education initiative by two of the most recognized Universities in the world that might change the future of education. EdX is a joint partnership between MIT and Harvard University to offer online learning to millions of people around the world. For free. This great joint venture will provide students access to Ivy League professors and real university courses regardless of geographic location or socioeconomic status. And THAT my friends, is great news!

Hello Brooklyn
What started as a rumor-campaign with ‘leaked’ tweets, photos and part owner JayZ’s ’subtle’ hints has finally been confirmed as the new Brooklyn Nets have launched their new logo, campaign and website. As you should know by now, the Nets relocated to Brooklyn after a few seasons in New Jersey. The move, along with a new arena and new look will not only revitalize the franchise and generate a lot of new revenue in merchandise but will also give Brooklyn a deserved home team. Design-wise, I must say I like the strong use of Black & White and boldness which is carried well on promo videos and merchandise. Unlike that garbage Marlins logo we got stuck with… Check out some photos and videos after the jump.

I guess it was my turn…
You know how people always say that imitation is the biggest form of flattery… bullshit. Last night, thanks to an email from an awesome reader in Australia, I found some douchebags called Roar With Us using some of my ‘just for fun’ personal lettering/type exercises on their portfolio and what’s even worse, attempting to sell it on threadless. While I know copying and stealing work online will probably never stop, I feel like I have to do my part and expose hacks like these. Check out some photos after the jump. Oh! and sorry for the early week rant :)

Peru’s moody new Stadium

Using a combination of innovative technologies and lighting layouts, the façade of the Peru National Football Stadium has been infused with a mixture of lights that allow the façade to act as a “mirror” of the crowd’s mood.In what is probably now the largest crowd controlled interactive lighting display in the world, the stadium is able to communicate the ebb and flow of excitement and disappointment to the surrounding city, thus becoming a watched spectacle in itself.

FontBook + iPad!

You don’t have to be a Typophile to love or appreciate good fonts. In fact, I strongly encourage friends to visit Type Foundry sites and blogs so that they understand why most of us designers struggle and sometimes obsess over finding the right one! - And why we hate Comic Sans! FontShop, one of the biggest font resellers worldwide, recenlty launched a sweet iPad version of their famous FontBook which is not only great looking, but very helpful and effective as well. Check out the demo video after the jump!

TheeBlog Q&A Sessions: Julian Van Mil

Chasing Madoff is a film based on the book ‘No One Would Listen’ by Harry Markopolos, also known as the whistleblower of the now infamous Bernie Madoff scandal that shook the nation back in 2009, and it narrates the numerous twists, secrets, threats and corruption that made this story seem unreal. I had the pleasure of chatting about this film with Associate Producer, Director of Photography and good friend Julian Van Mil. This talented Toronto based motion graphics Artist and Commercial Director is part of the team behind this film and kindly accepted my invitation to talk about his role, work, projects and some interesting facts about the film. Check out this great interview, the film’s trailer as well as some samples of Julian’s work after the jump. Happy Friday!

Airbus of the Future

Most of us love to travel. Unfortunately, most airlines and planes seem to not be too concerned about passenger comfort and amenities. But hey! there’s good news. Airbus has released details of its Concept Cabin demonstrating how aircraft interiors will look in 2050. It looks like a plane and a cruise ship got drunk one night and you know… This ‘aviation’ post is dedicated to my awesome pilot brother, who not only has inspired and made me proud, but also has me checking aviation news weekly

I’ll pay you back man…

Let’s face it, we’ve all been there. Night out with a few friends, lunch meeting, etc. and you were not able to pay for valet or a cab. I know this is true because I never carry cash on me (hear this muggers) and hate looking for an ATM. Now, how many times do you really pay your buddy those $5 back? Thanks to Venmo you can forget about those annoying trips to the ATM or even worse, looking like a douchebag for not paying your buddies. Venmo allows you and your friends to create an account and transfer money back and forth via smartphones. Their description says it all… ‘It’s like your phone and your wallet had a beautiful baby’
