Air Max Reinvented

This one is a little old, but since it is Air Max Month, I decided it was a good idea to bring it back. Doubleday and Cartwright was commissioned to create an illustrated genealogy and cultural impact survey of Nike Air Max, from designer Tinker Hatfield’s discovery of visible air to Air Reinvented, a collection of four classic styles revamped with Nike’s latest material innovations. Through fun and fantastical key art, supporting illustrations and copy, D&C unlocked the hidden histories behind these collection favorites—The Air Max 1, a design conceived at Paris’s Centre Pompidou that ignited Nike’s most critical footwear advent; The infrared-accented Air Max 90, a veritable staple of the early Acid House scene; The anatomically-inspired curves of the Air Max 95; The Air Max 97’s metallic ellipses, perennially secured to the feet of creatives, club-goers and style connoisseurs alike.

Empty, Dense, Merge.

TheeBlog-EmptyDenseMerge We all know that the differences between urban and rural America could be… abysmal (pun intended). But what happens if they are combined? What if, one of the country’s busiest and probably most over-habited cities is combined with one of the largest and most desolated landmarks to compose a new landscape? Well, Zurich based Photographer and Artist Gus Petro decided to find out. After traveling to Manhattan and The Grand Canyon for his series Empty, Dense, Merge, Petro combined photographs of both places to create a fascinating new world, where Manhattan becomes a valley… yup.

We’ve all seen Vegas videos full of colors and light – and tourists. But we rarely see footage from a different perspective or in a different ‘tone’. This new video by filmmaker Philip Bloom shows Vegas in a different light, and it is beautiful. The video was shot on a Sony RX100 IV and if you want to get technical you can learn more about it on Bloom’s website. Enjoy!

Vanity Fair Oscars Portraits by Mark Seliger

TheeBlog_OscarsVanityFairPortrairs
The Academy Awards are the Hollywood version of your High School prom. Celebrities play dress up and try to behave – even the trashy ones. And like any other prom or I-spent-money-on-this-dress-so-I-better-get-some-photos event, there are many photo ops and photos I am sure you’ve seen around, including red carpet, winners gallery, etc. But the one gallery that caught my attention and that I enjoyed was this series of photos taken by the talented Mark Seliger at Vanity Fair’s Oscars Party. Check out the series after the jump and learn your pose for the next office party…

Behind the scenes – Pirelli Calendar

If there’s something I enjoy more than lovely photography, is the passion, creativity and labor that takes place behind the scenes. When most people get to experience or see the final product, some of us get to experience, and enjoy that hectic, arduous and intense process even more. Today I want to share a video Pirelli + Harper’s Bazaar recently published, featuring behind the scenes footage of the different photo shoots done by Annie Leibovitz – extra bonus! Enjoy.

His photos combine the right amount of color, lighting and sexiness! But don’t let me tell you, check out some of his work… BTW, there might be a few NSFW photos.

True Detective Season 2 Titles

TheeBlog_TrueDetectiveS2titles

You may remember my post about HBO’s True Detective titles last year, and how much we all loved them. Patrick Clair took double exposure to a great level, created something mysterious and hypnotizing. Well, season 2 of the show is here and he’s done it again. Using different tones and moods, but following the same style, True Detective’s lovely titles deserve recognition – because face it, a show intro titles can sometimes be as good as the episode itself. Art Basel Miami 2014

TheeBlog_ArtBaselMiami2014 As most of you know very well, every year – every December to be specific, Miami turns into a unique, extravagant, classy, and busy city full of art fairs, shows, music, inspiration, and great food. This year, like every other year, my mission was to visit as many art fairs, galleries and shows as possible (it is extremely hard) as well as catching up with a couple of friends that visit Miami to work on their awesome projects. Now, I know it’s been some time since Art Basel 2014, but I promised I would share photos and here I am to deliver (had to go through hundreds), and to give you, who could not be in Miami, a little glimpse of what you can experience and enjoy for one entire week.
