You already know I am a huuuge fan of my extremely cool and talented friend Sara Blake/’ZSO’. In fact, I love her beautiful and inspiring work so much, I’ve featured it a few times and each time I do, I receive lots of emails and questions so I am glad you enjoy it as much as I do. With that being said, I have a treat for you today. For over a year, Sara has been working on a personal project combining her unique illustration style and fashion that I, as a follower and devoted reader of her blog, have been waiting for. ZSO-NYC is Sara’s new venture and can be described as a Manhattan based boutique specializing in illustrated textiles. To put it simple, badass fashion accessories! The Shops at Target
I’ve always believed good design, strong branding and clever advertising are essential for organizations, specially in the retail world. Target is a perfect example of a company that not only understood this, but also believed and executed this simple formula to perfection, giving it a considerable advantage over its competition. What I personally love about this brand is that they are constantly evolving and taking on new ideas and concepts. Ideas that range from ambitious and extremely successful collaborations with iconic brands like Missoni or Jason Wu to their newest venture, The Shops at Target. An innovative boutique concept that was launched this week and that I am sure you will see soon at your local stores. Learn more after the jump!

Imagine a watch that can control your iTunes library, receive emails, calendar alerts, Facebook and Twitter feeds while GPS’ing and computing your runs, cycling and even golf? Too good to be true? Well, meet Pebble. A watch that does… everything I just mentioned :)

Polygon Heroes
Remember those boring and painful lessons about polygons and Geometry classes back in school? I don’t. Not sure if it is because I hated them and never paid any attention -or because I was ‘absent’ that day. Luckily, I learned to love them and now I spend days creating mock-ups and using them almost on a daily basis. Why am I talking about Polygons you might ask? Because today I want to share a series of brilliant posters created by James Reid utilizing polygons to recreate some of our most iconic super heroes. Check the series after the jump!

But, do we know who shot these iconic images? Are we familiar with the sometimes anonymous talented Photographers behind the lens who happen to be at the right place, at the right time? Luckily, there’s a new book by San Diego based Editorial Photographer Tim Mantoani called Behind Photographs: Archiving Photographic Legends which features over one hundred different Photographers (some a bit more recognizable and famous than others) and their iconic photos. iPlayboy

Remember those nudie magazines your friends used to bring to school? You know, those old Playboy relics they used to steal from that single ‘cool, uncle’. Whether you admit it or not (you might be at work, in that case, we’ll stick to the ‘articles’ story), Playboy has been present for ages and can be considered part of the American life. And now, a new app has been released, containing all Playboy covers -and believe you me this will bring back memories :) Now, I must admit that I mostly decided to post this because I know a few friends who decided to create and design apps and have gone through hell and back trying to get Apple’s approval. How’s this for ‘following rules’ guys? Check out the app and download it if you want to feel again like a horny 13 year old boy. Or girl…

TheeBlog Q&A Sessions: Sam Green

It’s Friday! And man do I have a sweet treat for you. You might remember a previous post featuring the exquisite work of the incredibly talented, London based Illustrator Sam Green (HERE) Well, I recently had the pleasure of cyber-meeting Sam and talk about his work and recent projects. Being the big fan I am, I invited him to chat and answer a few questions about his work, inspiration, work process and recent post-earthquake trip to Japan which inspired his latest project, on sale now, benefiting the victims of this natural disaster. I am sure you’re going to enjoy his work and this interview as much as I did, and to sweeten the deal even more, I have a surprise! Sam donated a beautiful signed print to be auctioned, and one of you lucky readers is going to take it home and give it the love it deserves!

Another Day. Another Dropshadow.

If you love posters like I do, here’s one that you might want to get your manicured hands on! The awesome guys at The Design Bureau of Amerika recently launched a new poster illustrating a usual day in the life of a Graphic Designer and it rocks! If you are a Graphic Designer, or know one, you’ll either laugh or cry, but will definitely agree with it. (Although to me, the feedback from Account Management seemed to be more rational than it usually is).

URep

URep is a t-shirt brand and online community where artists and users can submit designs inspired by their hometown. URep-ers will vote for the best designs which are then printed and sold. But that’s not it! A portion of the sales of your winning design will also benefit a charity of your choice! Yes, this can count as your good deed for the month. I recently had the chance to chat with my friend Ramon Branger, Partner/CEO at The Alten Group and Digital Director for URep and ask him a few questions about this project…

FontBook + iPad!

You don’t have to be a Typophile to love or appreciate good fonts. In fact, I strongly encourage friends to visit Type Foundry sites and blogs so that they understand why most of us designers struggle and sometimes obsess over finding the right one! - And why we hate Comic Sans! FontShop, one of the biggest font resellers worldwide, recenlty launched a sweet iPad version of their famous FontBook which is not only great looking, but very helpful and effective as well. Check out the demo video after the jump!
